Developers Gear Up for Additional Atlanta Mixed Use Development
Real estate development is going strong in Atlanta. Atlanta BeltLine Inc. has proposed a new development on a vacant, historic property adjacent to a popular trail in Southwest Atlanta. In addition, the hyper-complex mixed-use development known as the Interlock is gearing up for additional development.
Development Updates in Atlanta
On September 22nd, Beltline officials announced their finalist for the redevelopment of Murphy Crossing, a 20-acre Oakland City site originally known as the Georgia Farmers Market. The finalist is an Arizona-based real estate development company named Culdesac. Culdesac plans to oversee a mix of new developments and revitalization projects, including housing and office developments, a grocery store, dining and retail options, and arts programming. They also plan to include a farmers market in homage to the land’s historical use.
Phase one of West Midtown’s mixed-use hotspot The Interlock is nearly fully leased. Now, several new tenants have signed on to join phase two of the project, located adjacent to the current property at the intersection of Ethel and Northside Drive. Phase two will include a 42,000-square-foot Publix grocery store, 670 rooms for Georgia Tech student housing, 275,000 square feet of commercial space and limited restaurant developments.
There is a data center expansion that is finally making headway. QTS Data Centers filed plans last summer with the City of Atlanta and BeltLine development arbiters to begin construction on what’s been titled "Project Granite." Per the filings, the first phase will include 1.15 million square feet of development, the bulk of it two data centers, plus roughly 250,000 square feet of offices.
