Affordable Housing Pasadena: Update on the City’s Development Goals
In 2020, council member John Kennedy announced a goal for 1000 units of affordable housing in 1000 days. Community Builders Group broke ground on their 280 Oakland Ave project, which will provide 180 of those units. The regional council of Pasadena is also requiring the city to build 9,400 units by 2049.
Development Updates in Pasadena
BRIDGE Housing is behind a supportive housing development at Fair Oaks Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard. The project will replace a drive through with 70 units of housing for older people. The project will be mixed use, including additional parking and commercial space.
MW Lofts on Walnut Street is a mixed use development with 115 units. The project is located in the Playhouse district on the corner of Walnut Street and El Molino Avenue. It will have 14,000 sq ft of commercial space above a parking structure. Prominent Development, a Pasadena-based firm is behind the project.
A parking garage is being converted into 48 condominiums. 16 are townhouse style and the remaining 32 are built along the perimeter of the building. The roof of the former garage will host the building's amenities, a pool, hot tub, fire pit and barbeque area. The project was designed by Adept Urban and built by Octane Development.
