    Downtown Salt Lake City Development Faces Residential and Hotel Boom

    Development Updates in Salt Lake City:

    Downtown Salt Lake City has recently experienced a sharp increase in multifamily development, with several new apartment and hotel complexes under construction. The new infrastructure will pave the way for increased mixed-use development and economic growth as residents and visitors flock to the area in the coming months.

    New Domain Companies Development Underway 

    New York-based Domain Companies is contributing to development in the area with its newest hotel. The Kimpton - a 10-story hotel currently under construction - will feature 209 rooms and attach to a 25-story apartment complex also developed by Domain. The hotel was designed by Chicago-based architect Solomon Cordwell Buenz and is primarily brick, juxtaposing the many glass buildings in the area.

    Lotus Company’s Mixed-Use Project Transforms South Downtown Area

    Utah developer, The Lotus Company, is working on a project in Salt Lake City’s south downtown area that will feature a mix of residential and commercial properties. Named The Lotus Alchemy, the development will feature 214 new homes, more than 10,000 square feet of retail space, and a restaurant. The project will be a welcome addition to an area traditionally dominated by auto-centric businesses, such as car dealerships, as it is rapidly shaped into a desirable place to live.

    Ground Broken on Asher Adams Hotel Project in Downtown Area

    Atlanta-based firm, Hatteras Sky, and Phoenix-based development company, The Athens Group, broke ground on the Asher Adams hotel in downtown Salt Lake City. The project, a mix of redevelopment and new construction, will feature a fitness facility and open-air meeting spaces. 

    The Asher Adams hotel will also center around one of the city’s most historic buildings: the Union Pacific Train Depot. The Depot will soon feature 13 historic guest suites plus a new 8-story structure with 212 modern suites. It currently operates as a popular live-music venue and will continue to operate during construction.
