Baltimore has so many great development projects, including hundreds of residential units and a massive redevelopment on the Baltimore Penn Station.
The Baltimore Penn Station redevelopment officially broke ground in October 2021, with construction beginning in February 2022. This $150 million project will bring much needed modernization to the eighth busiest Amtrak station in the country which serves three million passengers a year. This redevelopment will focus on accommodating the increased numbers of passengers as well as modern, high speed trains.
A new development in Harbor Point is said to show the effects of climate change on waterfront development projects as they grapple with potential flooding concerns. This 206 unit residential project has a resulting lobby that is nearly 12 feet higher than street level. A revised plan with a flood gate rather than the raised lobby is expected to be presented as well. This site also has a second tower that will have 312 residential units and a 1,250 space parking garage.
Chasen Companies has acquired a warehouse in Baltimore which they intend to redevelop into apartments. The 50,000 square foot warehouse was acquired for $10 million. The developer anticipates joining an adjacent site on which they will develop a 272 unit apartment building with 70,000 square feet of retail space.
MCB Real Estate has released plans for a 154 unit residential development in Northwest Baltimore that will overlook Druid Park. The developer is expecting to complete the project in 2024 with a total investment of $43 million.
