Real estate development is picking up speed in Madison as we enter the new year. Despite recent macroeconomic uncertainty, national construction delays, and various setbacks, many exciting residential and commercial developments are in the pipeline this year.
Wisco Hotel Group Announces New Projects
Wisco Hotel Group, a hospitality company based in Madison, has announced plans to expand its portfolio by developing two new hotels. The hotels include a Courtyard Marriott in Sheboygan and 80 room Holiday Inn Express in Appleton.
New Affordable Housing Project
Over the summer, Madison’s City Council approved plans for a $70 million low-cost housing project. The 245-unit housing project will include one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for low-income families on Madison’s East Side and address the growing need for affordable housing in the area. The project site, which has been vacant since 2019, currently houses a former bakery and retail complex and sits adjacent to Hawthorne Elementary School.
